The moment the kids have been waiting for finally arrived and pumpkin carving began! Barry had a hard time carving this one. Look how thick the walls are! The special pumkin knife wasn't long enough to get through!
The kids were so eager to get into that pumpkin and pull out the "guts". Sydney was so excited to gather as many pumpkin seeds as she possible could. I'm still not sure why. :) She really wanted me to roast them. They are currently in the pantry still drying, and probably molding!

This is Spencer's first real pumkin carving! He pulled his hand out of the guts and said, "ewwwwww!" So happy I captured that face in just the right moment! Adorable.
Sawyer had a similar reaction, but at an elevated way that only Sawyer could accomplish. He did not like the feel of the slime either!
And then, there's Syd. Calm. Cool. Collected. And, collecting. Collecting as many seeds as possible. Not one was left behind.
After having high ambitions on carving a super fun picture of a cat, we gave up. We settled on a silly faced pumpkin. There's always next year!
Here are the lovely jack-o-lanterns of 2012. Sydney (upper left) and Sawyer's (bottom left) pumpkins were also carved later. Simple and easy were the only options!
